有人認為學生，尤其小學生，應多讀陽光美好、奮鬥勵志的作品，不失童真，而又積極向上。至於相反的意見，社會愈來愈艱難、混亂，資訊發達，訊息傳播又快又廣，與其學生從別的渠道讀到陰暗醜惡，倒不如在文學作家的「筆力控制」下，學生從而得到反思和啟發。

我的看法，文學是藝術的一種，藝術品不應懷著特定目的去創作，否則，水平必定大打折扣。作家只需按著個人的興趣、品味、能力，以及題材的特質，自由發揮，抒發感情，不必考究讀者讀到什麼、喜不喜歡，只追求作品的完美，寫出來的小說，一定不差。
